VIRTUAL VOGUE

This past month we produced a completely new type of Zoom experience, a virtual vogue workshop. 

For this event, we collaborated with two amazingly talented and charming drag queens as our special guests, Calypso Jete Balmain and Maddy Mokes. 

The workshop consisted of a live performance from both queens, a Q&A highlighting their personal experiences with voguing and ballroom, and a basic voguing class where we divided the audience into virtual rooms to have small-scale instruction. We ended the experience with a vogue challenge, where audience and queens alike performed improv vogue to a live music set by D.J. Frew. 

In response to the growing movement of social activism combating racial injustice during this challenging time, we collectively chose to donate all ticket sales to the ACLU. You can find more about their current work here: https://www.aclu.org/

Events like this are very important to me. Not only does it educate and inform people of a practice and culture they don't know too much about, but it also gives a platform to these incredibly talented artists and social advocates during these uncertain times. We are happy to provide a stage for all types of artists and give patrons immersive experiences regardless of where they are tuning in from. 

During these times, it important to keep art alive as it can be a very healing medium. It is a time for community and learning, and what better way to escape a work-at-home routine like a virtual vogue workshop!
